CANDIDATE AND OFFICER PERSONNEL SURVEY
(THE 'COPS' TEST)
Copyright 1988-2004, The Institute for Forensic Psychology
This is a bio-data instrument which requires the subject to answer "True" or "False" to 240 items. Most are biographical in nature, while some involve opinions and attitudes. Subjects are instructed to be scrupulously honest and not to try to present themselves as 'perfect'. If an item asks whether the person ever did something, it means ever. They should also be informed that the examiner has background information against which the subject's answers will be checked.
This test is not timed, but usually takes no more than one half hour when administered by computer. Subjects should be told to answer spontaneously, and will have the opportunity to review each five questions before they are submitted for analysis. The print-out available to the examiner may be customized to meet specific needs or can be printed in complete form
(select the "All" option).
